The quick answer
If you only have one subscription, here's the short version. Disney+ is the family service, with Hocus Pocus, Hocus Pocus 2 and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Peacock has the most Michael Myers movies. HBO Max has the deepest horror catalog this month thanks to its "Horror Comes Home" collection. Hulu picked up a run of modern favorites in early October. And if you'd rather not pay anything, Tubi and Pluto TV both have legal, ad-supported Halloween picks.
Everything below is for the US and was checked against streaming trackers and service announcements in late October 2026. Catalogs change, sometimes in the middle of the month, so take a quick look in the app before you make popcorn.

Halloween movies on Disney+
Disney+ is the easiest choice for a family night. Almost everything here is rated PG or lower, and the scares are mild.
- Hocus Pocus (1993) and Hocus Pocus 2 (2022): the Sanderson sisters, back to back
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): Henry Selick's stop-motion musical
- Edward Scissorhands (1990): more gothic fairy tale than horror
- Halloweentown (1998) and Twitches (2005): Disney Channel nostalgia
- Toy Story of Terror (2013): a 22-minute special that works for very young kids
- Haunted Mansion (2023) and Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)
Best three-movie night: Toy Story of Terror, then Hocus Pocus, then The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Halloween movies on Hulu
Hulu added several big horror titles at the start of October. The Substance, Hereditary and Midsommar all arrived on October 1. It's the best service for modern horror this month.
- Scream (1996): Wes Craven's meta slasher, 30 years old this year
- Us (2019): Jordan Peele's doppelganger thriller
- Late Night with the Devil (2023): a 1970s talk show goes very wrong on Halloween night
- Barbarian (2022): a rental house with something wrong in the basement
- Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019)
- Halloweentown (1998) and Halloweentown II (2001)
- Casper (1995) and Edward Scissorhands (1990) for the family
Best three-movie night: Scream, then Us, then Late Night with the Devil.
Halloween movies on HBO Max
HBO Max launched a dedicated Halloween hub called "Horror Comes Home" on October 1. It includes new arrivals like A24's Backrooms (read our Backrooms review) and Evil Dead Burn, which premiered on the service on October 2.
- The Shining (1980) and The Exorcist (1973): both added October 1
- Beetlejuice (1988): the best horror comedy on any service right now
- Trick 'r Treat (2007): back on HBO Max since October 1, and set entirely on Halloween night
- Coraline (2009), Corpse Bride (2005) and Practical Magic (1998)
- The Lighthouse (2019)
- A Nightmare on Elm Street films (the original series, not New Nightmare)
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), Halloween H20 (1998) and Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
Best three-movie night: Beetlejuice, then Trick 'r Treat, then The Shining.
Halloween movies on Peacock
Peacock has six of the 13 Halloween films, more than anyone else, so it's the place to go for a Michael Myers marathon. It also has Christopher Landon's two horror comedies.
- Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021): the recent trilogy, minus the finale
- Halloween II (1981) and Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
- Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009)
- Get Out (2017)
- Happy Death Day (2017) and Freaky (2020)
- Night of the Living Dead (1968), Psycho (1960) and The Omen (1976)
- Death Becomes Her (1992) and Jennifer's Body (2009)
Best three-movie night: Happy Death Day, then Freaky, then Get Out. Both of the first two are directed by Landon, so they make a natural pair.
Halloween movies on Netflix
Netflix's horror library is thinner on classics this year, but it has a few strong picks.
- Psycho (1960)
- The Black Phone (2022), with Ethan Hawke
- The Sixth Sense (1999)
- His House (2020), a Netflix original about refugees in a haunted council house
- Crimson Peak (2015), Guillermo del Toro's gothic romance
- Halloween Ends (2022): the only Halloween film on Netflix
- Hubie Halloween (2020) and The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020) for something silly
Best three-movie night: The Sixth Sense, then Psycho, then The Black Phone.
Halloween movies on Prime Video
Prime Video is strongest on 1970s and 1980s horror. Many of the classics live here.
- Carrie (1976)
- The Thing (1982) and The Fog (1980), both John Carpenter
- An American Werewolf in London (1981)
- Candyman (1992) and Child's Play (1988)
- Death Becomes Her (1992)
- Totally Killer (2023), a time-travel slasher comedy
- Midsommar (2019) and Hereditary (2018)
Prime Video is also the easiest place to rent nearly anything on this page if it isn't included with your plan.
Halloween movies on AMC+
AMC+ is the only subscription home for John Carpenter's original Halloween (1978). It also has most of the early sequels, including Halloween 4 (1988) and Halloween 5 (1989), along with Trick 'r Treat (2007) and The Babadook (2014). If the original Halloween is the one movie you want, a month of AMC+ is the legal way to stream it.
Free Halloween movies on Tubi and Pluto TV
Both services are free and legal, and they make their money from ads. They're worth checking before you pay for a rental.
- Tubi: Night of the Living Dead (1968), Coraline (2009), Hereditary (2018), Hellraiser (1987) and Paranormal Activity (2007)
- Pluto TV: five Scream films, including the 1996 original, arrived on October 8 for the movie's 30th anniversary, alongside several Friday the 13th films
Stick to these and other licensed services. Sites that promise every new release for free usually aren't licensed, they're often packed with malware, and they don't pay the people who made the films.
Where to stream the Halloween (Michael Myers) movies
This is the question people ask most every October, so here's the full list.
- Halloween (1978): AMC+
- Halloween II (1981): Peacock, Prime Video, AMC+
- Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982): Peacock, Prime Video, AMC+
- Halloween 4 (1988): AMC+
- Halloween 5 (1989): AMC+
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995): HBO Max
- Halloween H20 (1998): HBO Max
- Halloween: Resurrection (2002): HBO Max
- Halloween (2007): Peacock
- Halloween II (2009): Peacock, AMC+
- Halloween (2018): Peacock
- Halloween Kills (2021): Peacock
- Halloween Ends (2022): Netflix
Every film in the series is rated R. The 2018 movie is a direct sequel to the 1978 original and skips everything in between, so you can watch just those two and still follow along.
Which service should you pick for Halloween?
- Families with young kids: Disney+
- Modern horror fans: Hulu or HBO Max
- Michael Myers marathon: Peacock, plus AMC+ for the original
- Classic 70s and 80s horror: Prime Video
- No budget: Tubi and Pluto TV
Most services let you cancel anytime, so one month of the right service can be cheaper than renting four or five films. Check the current price on the service's own site before you sign up, because plans and prices change often.
